From Hoping to Holding: Walking With You From Fertility to Your Baby's First Visit
Of all the families I get to care for, there's one kind of journey that's closest to my heart. It's when a mom first comes to me while she's trying to get pregnant, and I get to walk with her all the way to the day she brings her baby in.
It Often Starts With Hope (and a Lot of Waiting)
Trying to conceive can be one of the loneliest seasons of a woman's life. Month after month of hoping. Appointments, tests, apps, and everyone's opinions. Friends announcing pregnancies while you smile and quietly ache.
Many of the moms who walk into my Lenexa office are carrying that weight. Some have been trying for a long time. Some are working with a fertility doctor. Some just want to feel more at home in their bodies before they start.
I want to be clear: chiropractic care doesn't make anyone pregnant, and I'll never promise that. What I can offer is gentle care for your body and nervous system, a calm place to rest, and someone in your corner. Moms often tell me they feel less tense, sleep better, and feel more connected to their bodies. In a season that can feel so out of your control, that counts for a lot.
Then Comes Pregnancy
When that positive test finally comes, I get teary right along with you. I have five kids of my own, and I still remember every one of those moments.
From there, our visits shift to support your changing body. As your belly grows, your pelvis, hips, and low back are doing a lot of work. I use gentle techniques and positioning made for pregnancy, and we adjust as you go. Many moms tell me they feel more comfortable and more ready for birth.
I love this season because we get to talk, too. About your birth hopes. About your fears. About what you want those first weeks at home to look like.
And Then, the Baby
This is my favorite part: the day a mom I've known since she was hoping and praying walks in with her newborn in her arms.
Because we already know each other, there's trust. She doesn't have to explain her whole story. I already know it. And I finally get to meet this tiny person I've been hearing about for months.
I check baby gently. I've spent 16 years caring for little ones, since 2010, and I've learned to read what newborns can't say. Between a deep understanding of how infant bodies work and an intuition I've come to trust, I can often sense where a baby is uncomfortable. My touch is light, and Mom is right there the whole time.
Your Beliefs Are Welcome Here
Many of the families I care for are Catholic or Christian, and many come from other walks of life. I believe every patient deserves to make their own choices about their body, their family, and their faith. I'll never push you past what feels right to you. If something matters to you, tell me, and we'll honor it.
Why This Journey Matters to Me
I've lived through my own medical emergencies as a mom. I know what it's like to feel crushed and hopeless. I never want another mom to feel that way. That's why our mission at Raw Health is to help families reclaim hope, help, and healing through loving service. Walking beside a mom from "I hope" to "she's here" is one of the biggest honors of my work.
